Detail Itinerary:
Our driver picks you up at your hotel, we begin around 8:00 (recommend) from Hue to Quang Tri province.
The first place we drop in Rockpile, Khe Sanh combat base, and Vay village before reaching Ta Con airbase. At Here, you can feel the severity of the Life and death front for both the Vietnamese and Americans. Just south of the DMZ, the area was the scene of the bloodiest battles of the conflict.
12:30 pm. Drive back to Dong Ha City and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
Then Hien Luong Bridge – Ben Hai River. Here is the most painful symbol of the national division. According to the Geneva Agreement in 1954, Vietnam was divided into two parts. Vietnamese soldiers moved to the north and the French and its followers had to move to the south to take the parallel 17t as a temporary boundary for two years until the general election. However, America broke the agreement and separated Viet Nam for 12 years. Nowadays, you can easily imagine the color, flag, loudspeaker as well as artillery through the museum, two-color Bridge, flag tower, loudspeaker, and conjunction house.
Finally, we discover the Vinh Moc tunnel where you will be shocked by how and why it was built. It was impossible to survive on the ground when America broke DMZ to expand the war to the south and dropped 500,000 tons of bombs while there were only 70,000 people in Vinh Linh. Therefore, the designer is a man who just finished primary school and can build such a stable tunnel. It was not only for hiding bombs but also for schooling, cooking, treating, relaxing, and political discussion.
We back to Hue around 6:00 pm and finished the tour.

We did the Hue DMZ tour with Hura car with a couple of other backpackers. Such a great trip! Thanh, our driver, and Ms. Thach – the local guide in DMZ, our tour guide spoke English perfectly! Which is quite rare in Vietnam from what I’ve noticed. The first time I could really get some information about Vietnam in general, how it is to live in Vietnam, and so on. Thanh and Thach were both very friendly and we were open-minded toward all our questions.
Regarding the tour, they took the time to explain everything which was really nice. Tak was born during the war around the DMZ so she knew basically everything about The Vietnam war.
I would definitely recommend booking a tour with a local guide, she give you helpful information
We organised a driver through our hotel to take us to the DMZ zone and Hura Cars provided the service.
We had two young kids so needed some flexibility which they provided when we needed to stop and also finish earlier than planned.
They provided good local knowledge and sorted things like entrance into the Vinh Moc Tunnels.

We did a half day tour of the DMZ with Hue Explore day tours and would thoroughly recommend it. Mr Minh picked us up at our hotel in Hue and gave us plenty of information while driving. The tour itself was very interesting and our guide was very knowledgeable, even including some of his own personal family experiences of the Vietnam war. He has been a guide for a long time so was able to discuss the views of veterans on all sides of the conflict.
