Your journey begins with a convenient pick-up at your hotel in Hoi An. (Starting in Da Nang? Ask us about our special departure deals!) As we leave the city behind, our first stop is the famous My Khe Beach—historically known as China Beach—to take in the stunning ocean views.
Mid-Morning – Hai Van Pass & Lap An Lagoon
We’ll continue our drive up the legendary Hai Van Pass. This scenic, mountainous stretch of highway offers breathtaking panoramic views of Lang Co Bay. Shortly after descending, we will take a quick rest stop at the peaceful Lap An Lagoon.
11:30 AM – Arrival in Hue & Khai Dinh Tomb
Welcome to Hue, the former Imperial capital of Vietnam! Today, the city is a fascinating blend of bustling modern streets and tranquil, historic beauty. You will meet your expert local guide, who will introduce you to the rich culture and history of the region. Our first historical stop is the magnificent Khai Dinh Tomb, the final resting place of the 12th King of the Nguyen Dynasty, known for its incredible fusion of traditional Vietnamese and European architecture.
Lunch – Authentic Local Cuisine
We’ll head into downtown Hue to relax and savor a delicious lunch featuring the region’s famous specialty dishes.
Afternoon – The Imperial Citadel & Thien Mu Pagoda
- After lunch, we explore Hue’s crown jewel: the Imperial Citadel. You will wander through the Imperial City and the Forbidden Purple City, including the Emperor’s Private Residence. Though partially destroyed during the 1968 Tet Offensive, its foliage-draped ruins remain a powerful and proud testament to Vietnam’s history.
- Next, we visit Thien Mu Pagoda, one of the oldest and most iconic pagodas in Hue. Beautifully situated overlooking the Perfume River, it carries a fascinating local legend of a heavenly lady who appeared in the early morning.
- Optional Add-on: As late afternoon approaches, an optional Dragon boat ride on Perfume River (Huong Giang) from Thien Mu Pagoda offers a flawless vantage point to take in the golden hues of Hue City at sunset.
07:00 PM – Return Journey Relax on the comfortable transfer back to your hotel in Da Nang or Hoi An, concluding a full day of historical discovery.

Cristina Bielsa Carrera –
our family (4 people) used the Da Nang private car services twice on our trip. First time was an airport pick up from Da Nang transfer to Hue city. We used the minivan for comfort and weren’t disappointed, clean car, good air-condition. the 2nd booking was Hue city tour 1 day and transfer to Hoi An from hue city with stops at Marble Mountain and Lap An lagoon and Hai Van pass.
Everything was made through Hoang Vo and he made everything very easy, smooth, replies to emails were instant and made it all very stress-free. Driver and our tour guide Hary were excellent, professional and friendly and I can’t recommend this service enough.
Aghast –
We booked online day trip from Huracars from Hoi An to Hue with some sightseeing along the way. Hoang was the fastest to respond to us although we booked the morning before. He was with us on Whatsapp which was much better than having to go back and on email. Mr Hary the guide and driver was at our Hoi An hotel even before 8 am as scheduled. He was friendly, pleasant and most of all a safe and knowledgeable guide. He followed patiently for us at all times and is always with a smile and we learn more Hue history from Hary. We added some tomb sights into our itinerary in addition to the normal places en route. Thanks so much Hoang and Mr Hary. We will definitely recommend others when visiting Danang, Hoi An and Hue.
