DMZ tour Viet Nam or Demilitarized Zone tour is ideal evidence to study the Vietnam War history. DMZ divided the line between North and South Vietnam during the American war. This is the fiercest battlefield where one person had to suffer around 7 tons of bombs. Almost houses were fired, and thousands of people had to live underground or leave their homes.
DMZ tour from Hue by private car will bring you on a quiet and rural road to give you the most authentic value.
Detail Itinerary DMZ tour from Hue city
In the morning:
Our driver will pick you up at your hotel start DMZ Tour, and we recommend starting around 8:00 AM from Hue to Quang Tri province.
Our first stop will be at Dong Ha city for meeting the local guide – who live and grow up in Quang Tri province (option private guide 39 USD), then we pass by the Rockpile, a notable observation post used by the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. Standing at 240 meters, it provided strategic views of the surrounding area.
Next, we’ll visit the Khe Sanh Combat Base, the site of one of the most significant battles of the Vietnam War, where U.S. forces endured a 77-day siege by the North Vietnamese Army.
We’ll then proceed to Vay Village before reaching Ta Con Airbase, where you can sense the intense life-and-death struggles faced by both Vietnamese and American forces. This area, just south of the DMZ, witnessed some of the conflict’s bloodiest battles.
In the after noon:
About 12:30 we’ll drive back to Dong Ha City to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, we’ll visit Hien Luong Bridge – Ben Hai River, the most poignant symbol of Vietnam’s national division. According to the Geneva Agreement of 1954, Vietnam was temporarily divided into two parts at the 17th parallel. Vietnamese soldiers moved north while the French and their allies moved south, pending a general election that never happened, leading to a 12-year separation. Here, you can envision the divided era through the museum, two-color bridge, flag tower, loudspeakers, and the conjunction house.
Finally, we’ll explore the Vinh Moc Tunnels, an extraordinary underground network built to shelter local villagers from intense bombing. Remarkably designed by a man with only a primary school education, these tunnels were used not just for hiding but also for schooling, cooking, medical treatment, relaxation, and political discussions.
For a more comprehensive historical tour, we highly recommend booking a DMZ tour with an English-speaking guide. They can provide detailed information about the different sites and daily life during the war. We will meet local guide in Dong Ha city. Cost 900.000 vnd/ local guide

Tour Reviews
We did the Hue DMZ tour with Hura car with a couple of other backpackers. Such a great trip! Thanh, our driver, and Ms. Thach – the local guide in DMZ, our tour guide spoke English perfectly! Which is quite rare in Vietnam from what I’ve noticed. The first time I could really get some information about Vietnam in general, how it is to live in Vietnam, and so on. Thanh and Thach were both very friendly and we were open-minded toward all our questions.
Regarding the tour, they took the time to explain everything which was really nice. Tak was born during the war around the DMZ so she knew basically everything about The Vietnam war.
I would definitely recommend booking a tour with a local guide, she give you helpful information
We organised a driver through our hotel to take us to the DMZ zone and Hura Cars provided the service.
We had two young kids so needed some flexibility which they provided when we needed to stop and also finish earlier than planned.
They provided good local knowledge and sorted things like entrance into the Vinh Moc Tunnels.
A good safe driver who provided a professional service. Thanks for a good day out.
We booked a 1 day DMZ Tour with HURACARS. Our driver Mr Huy was very good, giving us information on all the places we visited.
It’s a long day, but very worthwhile.
We did a half day tour of the DMZ with Hue Explore day tours and would thoroughly recommend it. Mr Minh picked us up at our hotel in Hue and gave us plenty of information while driving. The tour itself was very interesting and our guide was very knowledgeable, even including some of his own personal family experiences of the Vietnam war. This was a great, comfortable and value for money way to do the DMZ tour from Hue. You have to aks for a tour guide if you want to learn Vietnam war on 1945s
We book private car Hue to DMZ with tour guide, Minh was very kind and knowledgeable about the significance of the sites visited. He was a young man during the conflict so was able to give personal insights into the War and its affects on the local people. He has been a guide for a long time so was able to discuss the views of veterans on all sides of the conflict.
Tip: you should rent a tour guide if you want to learn Vietnam War and previous conflicts in the area.
