Driving through Hai Van pass
The most scenic hillside roads in Vietnam are where you can overlook the mountain, sky, and ocean. This is a pass just north of Da Nang with recent historic significance. Hai Van Pass is mostly for tourists since the main traffic runs through a tunnel at the base of the mountain. The road is well maintained and ascends from the coast to above a thousand meters. On the top of the mountain, there are remnants of fortifications and an excellent view.

We booked a trip going from Hoi An to Hue on the scenic route stopping at marble mountains, banana hills, and Hai Van pass. The driver was on time to pick us up at our hotel. And we had a nice day trip. Our driver, Tuan was patient even when we spent 4 hours on Bana hills, always smiling, and driving safely and comfortably. Very informative trip with Thanh from Hue to Hoi An. He looked after us very well and stopped at the most peaceful and beautiful stops. He loves to talk about the history of his country which we found very interesting and helpful. He is very chatty (maybe a little too much) and friendly and got us to our hotel safely.
Private transfer from Hue to Hoi An via the Hai Van Pass and Golden Hands Bridge
After tropical rains stopped us from hiring a bike to cross the pass, we used a private car and driver who showed us plenty of places to look at on the journey, stopping at a lagoon that farmed oysters, where we watched the local fishermen and tasted oysters in a local cafe, with pearl shop. The view over the pass was hidden by the rains but would have been beautiful. We stopped to look over Da Nang bay and across the city, saw the fishing harbor, and then stopped at a marble shop and carving area and then walked up marble mountain and went into the caves before being dropped at our accommodation in Hoi An
Our transfer from Hue to Hoi An town with Hoang was a total charm. We had so much fun with him from Hue city on the ride to Hoi An. There was never a dull moment with him and we appreciate that he spoke very good English which makes the ride even more enjoyable, his English skill is better than the pro tour guide we joined a tour with another company in Hue – Amazing.
