Hang En cave also known as Swallow Cave, is one of the largest caves in the world, located in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. This is a famous cave and one of the natural wonders not to be missed in Vietnam. You will admire beautiful stalactites, stalagmites and underground rivers. Trekking tours to discover En Cave will bring visitors to an exciting night’s camping inside a majestic cave which is 3 million years old. 

In addition, when exploring Hang En cave tour, you can also have the opportunity to see Hang Lanh on the tour, which is a new addition to our 2017 itinerary. This 2 day – 1-night tour will truly be an unforgettable experience during your time in Vietnam.

Day 1: Phong Nha – Ban Doong Village – Hang En Cave

On the morning, our car will come to pick you up at your hotel in Phong Nha from between 7:30 am and 8:00 am, and a short transfer to the company office. There you will listen to the safety briefing, sign the release form, pack your bag and receive the necessary safety equipment.

  • Visiting Ban Doong Village

The group begins with a jungle trek, hiking and wading through streams, to arrive at Ban Doong Village. Here is the home of the minority ethnic community living deep in the jungle. 

  • Have lunch and relax

The group will stop for lunch and feast on a hot cup a tea at the village and learn about the life of the people here before continuing the trek to Hang En camp. 

  •  The Journey to Hang En

Continuing through the forest and crossing the river numerous times, the group will reach Hang En cave.

  • Discovering Hang En Cave

There everyone will be equipped with helmets, turn on the headlamps and start climbing the rocky section to explore the cave. You will see the entire Hang En Cave camp and the mesmerizing surrounding scenery. 

  • Have dinner 

For the remaining time, you can enjoy swimming in the turquoise lake next to the camp before sitting down to a delicious dinner served right inside the cave.

Day 2: Hang Eng Cave – Phong Nha town

  • Climbing and discovery in Hang En Cave

In the morning, after breakfast, the group continues climbing up the rocks behind the camp in a cave, exploring and learning more interesting facts of nature in Quang Binh Province, and admiring the stalagmites and stalactites

  • Lunch Break at Camp

After wading through the underground streams you will reach the large sandy floor of the gigantic cave exit. The group will return through the cave to the underground camp to have lunch and a short break.

  • The final challenge

The group will leave the cave, for the final challenge of wading through many streams and  make your way up the hill to the pickup point, where our driver will be waiting to take you back to Phong Nha.

Essential clothing

  • Trekking clothes:
    – 1-2 quick-dry, bright, long-sleeved shirts
    – 1-2 pairs of quick-dry, long trekking pants
    – 1 waterproof jacket (winter months December to March)
  • Campsite clothing sets:
    – Warm clothes for winter from December to March
    – Shorts and T-shirts for summer from April to September
  • 1 pair of good gripping trekking shoes (drainable); *Waterproof/Gore Tex shoes are not recommended.
  • 1 medium size backpack (20L-25L) to carry stuff that you need while trekking
  • 2 pairs of calf-length, thick socks
  • 1 pair of sandals/slides using at the campsite
  • Personal dry bag/box for electronic devices
  • Swimwear using at the campsite
