From Da Nang to hoi An, it’s a short distance of 30 km ~ 18,6 miles and it takes us about 45 mins to 1 hour to transfer between two cities.

If you are already in Da Nang center or the International Airport, don’t hesitate to also go to Hoi An for a few days – that is our top recommended tourist city in the center of Vietnam. For each vehicle that we listed as below, you would go on either 1 in 4 following routes:

  1. Along the beach: follow Truong Sa Street (near Da Nang beach and visit Marble Moutain) to Vo Nguyen Giap / Lac Long Quan and turn to Hoi An City.
  2. Along the beach: from Danang center – go along Le Van Hien street, then visit Marble Mountain follow the road of Da Nang – Tran Dai Nghia – Hoi An province, about 30km to Hoi An.
  3. Along Da nang road the follow Nguyen Huu Tho – Vo Chi Cong street – Tran Dai Nghia – Dien Nam – Nguyen Tat Thanh – Hoi An ancient town
  4. Along highway 1 from Danang city – Vinh Dien – Le Quy Don – Hung Vuong (near Thanh Ha ceramic village) – Hoi An.

Here are 5 common ways to reach the ancient town of Hoi An city from Da Nang. Based on their pros and cons, you can decide on the most suitable means of transportation for your trip.

1. Da Nang to Hoi An by Private Car

► Booking: You can ask your hotel or the hotel that you book in Hoi An to find you a car rental service, of course, if you contact directly Hoi An private car company, the rate is cheaper. Depend on your group size and your budget, you can choose to rent a sedan (4 seat car), an SUV (7 seat car), or a Van (for a big group of 12 people)

Private Car transfer from Da Nang to Hoi An

► Duration: A private car will probably take you from Da Nang to hoi An in only 45 mins at most or more if you want to stop en route for visiting as we mention above (My Khe Beach, Marble Mountain). Just give the driver the address of your hotel in Danang, they will surely be able to find it right away, for convenience, give him your contact and he can call you.
We recommend booking a car with English speaking driver, they may be not good as a tour guide, but he can help you during the trip.

Max 5 people
Max 12 people
Hue private car transfer
Da Nang to Hoi An 11 USD
250.000 vnd
15 USD
20 USD
Price quoted per car, not per person.

► Pros and cons: Private car is the number one option to get from Da Nang to Hoi An since it’s the most convenient and the fastest, also you can stop anywhere you like on the way, maybe for swimming in My Khe beach, taking photos in Marble Mountain, for a drink coffee or lunch. Although this is the most expensive option, sharing the cost with other people actually makes renting a private car worth it. Value for money.

>> Recommended: Car transfer from Da Nang to Hoi An

2. Grab Bike or Grab Car

► Booking: All you need to do is to download the app Grab or Go Jet on your phone and book a motorbike or a car.

► Duration: Just like the private car, a GrabCar will take you to Hoi An in about 45 mins. A motorbike might take you longer, around 1 hour.

► Cost:
GrabBike: 145.000VND ~ 5 USD
Grab Car: 376.000 d ~ 15 USD (4 seater) – 449.000 d ~ 20 USD (7 seater)

Grad Car or Grab Bike fee – Jun 2021 | From Da Nang airport to Hoi An Ancient town

► Pros and cons: For solo travelers with a single backpack, the motorbike option (GrabBike) is extremely cheap and convenient. but travels with friends, is not a smart option.
For example, 2 bikes for 2 from Da Nang airport to Hoi An historic hotel, cost you 300.000 vnd. it seems more expensive than using a private car and not include insurance
However, these drivers – especially motorbike drivers -can go pretty fast sometimes, so you might want to bring your own helmet because they often only have low-quality helmets for the guests.
We are not recommended if you have big luggage. The rider may be canceled if they see you pack

3. Traditional Taxi

► Booking: If you don’t make a reservation or need a car as soon as possible you can call a traditional taxi instead. Taxis are available everywhere in Da Nang, and the most popular taxi companies that you should call are Mai Linh taxi, Vina Sun, Tien Sa, Vang Taxi.

Transfer between Da Nang to Hoi An by taxi

Duration: around 1 hour

Cost: around 350.000VND – 400.000VND (USD $15.00 to $18.00).

► Pros and cons: Traditional taxi is almost like renting a private car, so you can place stuff on the car, and the duration is short. However, you can not be able to stop taking photos, because of the taxi fee cost by distance, so it is a little bit higher than a private car, and some taxi drivers may go around to get more money from you. It is discomfort in person when we always see the speedometer

4. Public Bus

► Old bus: You can take bus number 1 which will take you directly from Da Nang and Hoi An, or the other way around. The bus departs every 30 minutes, starting from 5:30 AM to 6 PM every day. Yes, it is our suggestion in the article for a long time ago.

From Oct 2020, this bus does not go between Hoi An and Da Nang, it is stopped because of too old vehicles and no customers. You will catch 2 bus lines, from Hoi An to Danang outside the station, then catch another bus to go to Danang center.

Bus line: Hoi An station – Viet Han college (Trần Đại Nghĩa Str) – Hoi An station

► New bus: today, you can use other buses to go around Da Nang city

Da Nang city bus

► Duration: about 1:30 ~ 2 hours/ trip depend on time

► Price without big luggage: 18.000 d/ person but in the fact, the forgeiner must pay 30.000 d/ ticket. If you have big luggage cost 50.000 vnd.

Tips: the price is often printed on the window of the bus, but the foreigner must pay that price to make sure that you arrive at Hoi An center, not halfway, and continue to walk.

Da Nang new city bus

► Pros and cons: This is the cheapest way to get from Da Nang to hoi An, and the duration is not too long, we can accept if you are not rush. However, you won’t have much space to store your stuff since there might be many people on the bus (but there might be very few people).
There’s no online ticket available for buses in Vietnam.
Another downside of taking the public bus is that the bus stop is about two miles from Da Nang airport, so you will need to take a taxi there anyway.
We do not recommend catch a bus to go to the airport.

5. Rent a Motorbike

► Booking: You can easily rent a motorbike in Da Nang. 2 motorbike rental services that you can reliably book are:

  • Truong Dat motorbike rental: +84 969 722 744
  • Lê Trường motorbike rental: +84 981 331 331
  • Da nang easy rider
Easily rent a motorbike in Da Nang at a small cost

► Duration: up to you

► Cost: about 100.000 – 150.000 VND/day, and you can get a discount if you rent it for a longer period.

► Pros and cons: Travelling by motorbike is the best way to fully experience the beautiful coastline from Da Nang to Hoi An ancient, you can visit Marble Mountain, Monkey mountain on the East, and it’s also convenient. However, renting a motorbike will require you to put in a deposit (money or your luggage) and your passport card to ensure, so you should prepare a notarized copy of your passport in advance.
Also, the traffic in Vietnam may not be the same as in your country, it is a crazed experience if this is the first time traveling to Vietnam. It could be dangerous, so don’t try if you are not an experienced driver.

Above are the best 5 ways to travel from Da Nang to hoi An. We hope to have informed you sufficiently and hope that you will be able to find the most suitable means of travel for your trip. Finally, have a nice time in Vietnam!

Getting from Da Nang to Hue: A guest review

It was time to start our last trip in the central of Vietnam: from Da Nang to Hue airport, we didn’t book a flight ticket from DN to Hanoi because we didn’t want to miss the most beautiful road in the central – Hai Van pass.

We had to go away because of the breaking out COVID-19 pandemic in Danang in the summer of 2020

Instead of seating public buses, we book a private car for safety and bus drive via the tunnel, we still had a couple of more hours of Southeast Asian journeys left, and it had been looking just like the trip from Da Nang to Hue might just be our quietest excursion yet.Stop in Lap An on way from Da Nang to Hue

As soon as I received our booking confirmation via email by Mr. Hoang and set a time for us (you can choose a time or asked him for a recommendation). Near the departure time, he contacted us again and send a message on WhatsApp to the provided to verify with driver’s info and the plate car number.

A smartly dressed Vietnamese man with a green shirt came to visit us as we were sitting in the reception with our backpacks surrounding us and began talking in English to us (surprising – a little bit but it is enough for us).

The car was incredibly spacious, comfortable and it seems brand new, comfortable seats for the foreigner like us. There was also free Wi-Fi within the car that worked all right considering. Out of all the places we traveled via bus or car in Asia, I feel Vietnam wins the prize for having the comfortable and most luxurious modes of transport.

Heading out early to Hue from Da Nang

We depart at 11:30 in the morning, 10 minutes before the scheduled time of departure, the driver arrived in time and waited for us in the parking then he came to meet us, very polite. The driver pulled over at a little coffee shop at the side of the road one hour into our journey and we can take pictures in Hai Van pass, big rock, and the Hai Van gate.

You can buy something such as a coffee or a bottle of water if you want to use the toilet of the coffee shop. It is a courtesy in Vietnam.

Stop in Lap An Lagoon, you can have a meal with seafood, while waiting for the staff server meal, you can take pics in the sand bar among the lagoon.

Lap An lagoon and the white sand bar on the way from Da Nang to Hue

Arriving in Hue after a fast ride

The journey took 3 hours for visiting en route before we arrived in Hue just after 2:30 pm.

Overall, the journey from Da Nang to Hue went swimmingly, and that we didn’t experience any hiccups, the driver can show you much information about Hai Van gate, and talk more about Vietnam’s lifestyle. It’s a pleasing three-hour journey and we enjoyed it. Value for money

What is your expectation from Da Nang to Hue trip?

  • Stop in big rock when the car climbing Hai Van pass on Danang side
  • Stop in Hai Van Gate, the border of Hue city and Da Nang
  • Take pics in Lang Co bay and waiting for the train passing
  • Enjoy Seafood in Lap An lagoon and see the white sand bar

The Golden bridge on Bana Hills peak

Ba Na Hill is located on the top of Chua Mountain, this is a destination not to be missed when travelling to Da Nang with spectacular sceneries and interesting activities. Ba Na hill is more and more interested in the appearance of a beautiful bridge. The name of this bridge is the Golden Bridge.

From a distance, two giant stone hands reaching out from the mountains in Central Viet Nam look old like a remnant from ancient times. But do not be fooled: It is a metal wire and fibreglass network used to support an incredible walking bridge that was just opened in June. The Golden Bridge is located at an altitude of nearly 1.140m compared to the sea view on Ba Na Mountain and connects a cable car station with nearby gardens. The 150m long bridge offers visitors plenty of space to enjoy the charming and impressive sceneries. It is an effort to attract more tourists to the city

Designed by Vu Viet Anh belonging to TA Landscape Architecture Company, he says that he is proud of the image of this project that visitors from all over the word share and support.

With the unique design, the bridge makes anyone who set foot to be surprised by the majesty of nature and the magic of beautiful landscape with the creation of human hands. Come here, you just get a breathtaking view of the jungle, just experience the feeling of walking in the clouds, mid-sky clouds where no place else have been.

Located in the Thien Thai garden, the bridge is viewed as a special transiting point for travellers to move conveniently from the foot of the mountain or French village to the flower garden- Le Jarin D’ Amour. The bridge is 12.8m wide, nearly 150m long, including 8 spans, the longest span: 21,2m. According to TA Landscape Architecture- the unit directly designed the Golden Bridge- the image representing the hands of the mountain gods, drawing from the rocky mountain a gold band to help the villagers to the Thien Thai garden. The Golden Bridge has created a path between the airs, the frosted picture frame as the scene of Ba Na Mountain. From the Golden Bridge, visitors can admire the pristine forests stretching far and far away. You can adore the panorama of beautiful Da Nang city.

Sun World in Ba Na Hills has been a major tourist destination of Da Nang city, attracted tourists with a series of events and unique building such as the cable car, French village, flower garden of love, museums… However, thanks to the special attention of the well-known press in the words, the birth of this masterpiece will contribute to promoting tourism both coastal city and Viet Nam.

With the appropriate rice paper, you get the half success to make the dish.

The next step is selecting the fine pork. Boil the pork for a while in the pool of water until the pork becomes soft, its meat turns white, and the fat section looks clear. If you over-boil the meat, it will get dried and shrunken; this is not good for the perfect completion. Therefore, just boil until you notice the soft pork.
