Many of Hue Royal’s tombs and parts of the Imperial city are restored and are the perfect places to spend a day or two wandering around and immersing yourself in the history of Hue.
Hue city tour 1 day gives you a one-day royal tour with highlights of what was, for nearly 150 years, the capital city of Viet Nam. While you will be witnessing a large number of well-preserved royal remnants such as the old citadel and court, royal tombs, and famous pagodas.
You will also get a great picture of contemporary urban and rural life in Hue, whether through a dragon boat ride on the Perfume River or by visiting local markets.

Detail itinerary:
- 08:00 Our driver meets you at your accommodation and starts to take in the tour visiting beautifully constructed places dotted around the town’s outskirts.
- **[Optional] Perfume River trip by dragon boat: We get a Dragon boat ride on the Perfume River to go to the oldest pagoda in Hue – Thien Mu pagoda. We surcharge 250.000/ group (maximum 10 people). If not make 30 mins boat ride, we go to Thien Mu pagoda by car
- Visiting Pagoda of the Celestial Lady – Thien Mu Pagoda: Built-in 1601 on the Northern bank of the Perfume River, this famous pagoda is unofficially regarded as the symbol of the former imperial capital.
- Visiting Hue Imperial City: impressive in size and historical value, was for almost 145 years (1802 to 1945) the home of the Nguyen rulers, and the political heart of Vietnam. Its grounds are protected by a fortified rampart 2 km square and ringed by a moat taking its water from the Perfume River. This enclosure is the Citadel, and inside is the Imperial City, with at its heart the Purple Forbidden City.
After lunch, we continue to visit the royal tomb with 2 architects: a Vietnamese Architect and a Western Architect:
- Visiting Khai Dinh Tomb: built over a period of 11 years, on a steep hill outside of the city, the tomb is a blend of Western and Eastern architecture, with materials and ornaments coming from France, China, and Japan. The Khai Dinh tomb does not look like other contracture, is a built solid house made of steel, and cement.
The entire tomb is surrounded by a wall with big gates make from 4 pillars, each dedicated to a different season. - Visiting Tu Duc Tomb: the final resting place of the 4th Emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty, The complex features a large lake, pine gardens, and pavilions, as well as a temple dedicated to the worship of Tu Duc King. The main tomb is an impressive structure with a large network of courtyards and gardens. It is constructed of brick and stone with a large central courtyard where Tu Duc lives in his range.
- Walking around the Handy Craft village – Thuy Xuan Incenstick village & Conical hat is located near Tu Duc tomb. It is known for its traditional production of incense sticks, used for religious practices. Thuy Xuan village also produces conical hats, which are essential to Vietnamese culture. The village is known for its traditional craftsmanship and the quality of the products manufactured here. Visitors to the village can witness the production process and purchase souvenirs.
- 16:30 — we finish the tour and take you back to your hotel by car.

In November this year we visited Vietnam for the first time, we organised for Hura Cars to pick us up at the airport and show us around the area. The daily tour of an ancient city of Hue was one of the highlights of our three weeks visit to Vietnam. Perfectly organised, the guide was fluent in English, didn’t overwhelm us with too many details, just right. The group was 8 people, not too much not too little. The set up menu lunch was excellent and actually one of the best dishes we enjoyed during our trip.
We also used the company for private transfers between Hue and Hoi An, and Hoi An to Da Nang airport. Very punctual and reliable.

I joined Hue City Tour 1 day with hura cars and some people.
